Being A Trans Ally

SAVE THIS DATE! Sunday, September 23rd from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM. As the Gay and Straight Together Ministry will present:

BEING A TRANS ALLY
TRANSGENDER: THE FORGOTTEN PEOPLE
—PART III—

on Sunday, September 23 from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM. During this time, we will learn more about how to be allies to the transgender community: including how to support transgender individuals and daily advocating for their rights, while hopefully knocking down barriers along the way.

The facilitator for the day is Betty Guilfoile. Betty is the president of Parents of Transgender Individuals/Chicago, which is a subchapter of PFLAG. She is the mom of 27-year-old twins who are both members of the LGBTQ community. Both kids came out as gay in their adolescence while they were all living in Gainesville, Georgia—in the buckle of the Bible-belt. Betty is a licensed marriage and family therapist and will be starting a new job with a counseling organization in Chicago called Live Oak, which serves primarily the LGBTQ population. Betty and her husband Bill moved to Chicago in 2015 and are very active members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Watch the Sunday bulletins closer to the presentation day for more details.

We look forward to see you there!

Thank you for your support!
